It's oppressive, very oppressive

The last three days have been beyond hot temperatures any were from 100-106 degrees. Anyone who happens to live in the Southwest US or anywhere else that gets super hot, are probably saying "suck it up" or "that isn't that bad" but hey if you live on the East Coast of the US, you know in the summer it gets nasty high humidity. While it may be 80 degrees it can feel like 90 degrees. Now at least the Southwest has one thing going for it even if it is 110 degrees it's dry heat!!!!!!. What would I take for dry heat. Yesterday and today a number of cities have broken records some not since the late 90's and other's not since the 1930's. Wow!. Hopefully tomorrow will be cooler.

As for the photos below there from summer 2009 It's been far too hot to shoot anything as of late.

And thank you for the lovely comments on my last post.

Are you sure we aren't in Key West?

Sadly we are not in Key West. anyway. This past time in Florida I got addicted to key lime pie, so when I came home I knew Ben & Jerry's had an ice cream flavor in key lime, it's great as well. But nothing compares to the real, or close enough to an actual Florida key lime pie. This past weekend I decided to make one, and let me tell you I'm not a baker at all. Trust me I've messed up Jell-O before, how much more sad can you get than that? I figured it would be easy......and it WAS not a mess up at all.

Below will be links to the pie filling and crust.

A simple graham cracker crust, just: unsalted butter, sugar, and of course graham crackers.
In the process of mixing a loveliness, in the bowel: sweetened condensed milk, 6 egg yolks. Wouldn't want to bore you of pretty much the same stage, since when you add the key lime juice it looks the same. the key lime is in the mixture as well.

Just out of the oven. Above picture.

Refrigerated pie over night, in the recipe it doesn't say to but seeing as I it was done around 5 o'clock.

And the finished product. I'm quite proud of myself too.

Summer guilty pleasures, what are yours?

It's that time of year when we're either watching re-runs of House or CSI: Miami to take care of summer boredom, until new fall seasons start. But why wait when there are countless summer series to watch? Just like anyone I like my reruns (Gilmore Girl's on SoapNet?) still sad that it ended over three years ago, how time flys. These are just a couple of my summer guilty television pleasures.

There really is only so much to say about two of the Kradashian sister's, in Kourtney and Khloe take Miami. There is just about a no hold bar with these two. I can only say but to take the 30 minutes to watch these two, you can't not but like them and the show if you watch Keeping up the the Kardashian's. Sunday's on E! 10/9c.

Unless you've been living under a rock since 2008 you probably have heard of, watched, or watch True Blood. Many people that have watched the last two seasons will say season two was the better out of the two.....but in my opinion it was far from better than the first. Possibly too many orgies for me, or how much Sookie's' character changed from one to another. Still have yet to watch the first two episode's, but they are are my DVR waiting to be watched. Maybe that is what I'll do after this post?

9/8c Sundays on HBO.

Models, photoshopping, Blackberry.

Sorry for my lack of entries this week, I'm in a "photography-block" if you will nothing seems inspirational lately. Anyway. This post on CoCoPerez today caught my eye, some people may remember a while ago Ralph Lauren fell under bad press with photoshopping a model to unrealistic proportions. This time however Nordstrom has photoshopped Ralph Lauren model, Tao Okamoto, already thin to have a young child's proportion(s). Do you think Nordstrom should remove the photo from their website? or do you think it's part of the fashion business?

On another note, today I upgraded my phone from an LG Chocolate to a Blackberry Pearl it won't arrive until Monday (crosses fingers it's here tomorrow) it has over-night shipping but with it being Saturday I'm thinking Monday. If you have a Blackberry do you like it? pros & cons, this will be my first one.

Photo below of Ralph Lauren model.

Have a great weekend!!

Quick update

Hello. Hopefully your weekend is going well and hope your week was good as well.

No photography today (or should I say night) I just wanted to update quickly. This weekend are my last dance recitals, I've finished two and one tomorrow, my poor dad has to spend his Father's Day at a dance recital (what I'm sure all dads want to do. haha). It's crazy that after 10 years of dance it's over, but more than likely I'll take a class during college to help keep off the freshmen 15. Every year the studio I attend does a "funny number" really just spoofing a song, TV show, movie, etc, as long as it goes with the theme. I am apart of it again this year and a girl from the 1980's Robert Palmer 'Simply Irresistible' video.

Again have to good Sunday.

Long waiting

Hope everyone's weekend is going well, if you aren't already out of school. As said in my last post I am blogging about my vacation to Central Florida from the end of last month. Manly there are just the "highlight/landmark" photos, I wouldn't want to bore anyone for to long with a bunch of random photo, but the few I did add.

In the the years I've been to Disney I've never seen Hollywood Studios this crazy packed. Actually I don't have many pictures from there, we got there around 11:15 and stayed for about 30-45 minutes. Fast Pass for the Rockin' Roller Coaster return was 5:45-6:45 nuts huh? and it was not even noon.

I can't believe my senior dance year is almost over next weekend are my recitals, I have two on Saturday and one Sunday. This week will be crazy running around for this and that for it, tonight I have a three hour practice, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday as well. Friday is dress rehearsal. ahah. Luckly enough I'll get home just in time to watch the season 3 premiere of True Blood.

How should tthis be tilted?

Reason number one why I hate summer: Bugs. Currently as I type there is a fly annoying the living @#%$ out of me, for the last 45 minutes I've been trying to either kill it (no offence to animal rights people) or get it out of this room. Ughhhh. My mother and sibling are probably thinking I'm crazy. Anyway to get away from that @%$& fly problem. haha.

I know it's been so, so long since a last photo update but to be honest I haven't been taking many photos in the last weeks. I was going to make this sort of a double post and update with a few photos that were taken when I went to Central Florida at the end of last month. Sometime this weekend they should be up.

Just a couple from the last few days. not great by any means.

Have a great weekend! and if your already done with school for the summer have a great summer as well.

I must be the worst person for blogging in history, plus a bitter sweet week

And I really mean it it's going on a month since my last post, ekk. As I've said in probably other posts I have good reasons now I'll take you on my long list of them, since right now I actually have time, as it's 2:34 A.M. and not able to sleep. As I type I'm watching, or listening, to Dear John (I won't say what I though about it as this moment) anyway. It's a bitter sweet week, I really cannot believe the four years of high school are over, as of 4 o'clock this afternoon I was officially DONE with high school, it's been a long yet short road (if that makes sense). It was sad to think that this will probably will be one of the last few times I'll see some of these people for a while (if at all again), yet happy to think we're all moving forward in life to become all that we can be. How I'll miss some of them. It's really starting to hit me 9 hours later that I am really not going back come September, It's bitter sweet to think. But whatever life has in store next...the unknown that may be, I'm ready. Here is to the road unknown.....and to now looking for a summer job. Job hunting here I come.

Here is to the class of 2010. Great job!

Rambling great title, huh?

A very creative title isn't, I know right? it took all of about 0.01 seconds to think of it, any way besides that randomness, I wanted to make this blog post about one of my other favorite past times if you will? Well that would be reading, I'm a self proclaimed book worm, book addicted, bad a the wallet. Thankfully my mother has many, many books so it's not quite (that) bad but still. An author I've come to like over the last two-ish years is Sarah Dessen, but my two favorites are: Stephen King and James Patterson, their both known for mystery. One of my favorites from James Patterson is "Sunday's at Tiffany's" this one was completely different from any of his other's I've read before, and much enjoyed. Stephen King's newest book (that I've aware that is) "Under the Dome is a thick monster at 1000+ pages and have yet to finish it, this summer when school isn't my life the monster will be read, from what I have read 40ish pages I like.

Tell me what your favorite book(s) are?
Have a great weekend.

Packing, cleaning, etc, etc.

This afternoon after coming home from school I thought to myself "why wait until the end of the week to do laundry and such" well that is just what I've been doing since 1 o'clock, doing laundry, grrr, and what not. Be smart and not wait until your not wearing end of winter/early spring clothing and wait to finish that laundry (you said to yourself a month and a half ago you would do), yes be smart.

Well after a million and three years I am finally making a blog post with pictures (woohoo), here you have it.....finally new photos! On a side note I have to get inspiration from other things other than flowers, I'm getting to the point were that is almost all I shoot. Hopefully Miami/Florida will give more inspiration.
I was luckly enough to get this little guys photo, I must admit that he (or) she does live near my yard.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mothers day, Mom. No photos today just a Happy Mother's Day greeting to all the moms out there. Hope all the wonderful mothers had a lovely day! Know matter how much we fight with her growing up, and she says "no" and all the other things go on in day-to-day-life nothing can replace a mother or a grandmother, aunt or any other mother figure in our lives.

What did you do for your Mother today? as for myself and sibling (well I more so) made her dinner, a card, she isn't one for fresh-cut flowers so we went to a local nusery and bought daisy's and planted them a pot.

Happy Mother's Day, Mom, love you.

Hello!

My apologies for not posting in a while as I do have good reason(s) as to why: Over the past week and a half I've gotten a root canal done (not fun. damn almonds), dance and school have made me super busy, this past Monday and Tuesday and today have/are picture for dance/graduating senior pictures. These are just two photo taken recently:
I'm in need of new music, in the next couple of week I am going to Florida, so I need some for the flight. If anyone can recommend anything thank you so much! I'll take a listening to just about anything!

A classical cover of "Telephone"

I guess it wouldn't suprise you if I said I am a Lady GaGa fan (like so many others) well yes, I am for the last two years I have listened to all her music driving down the road enjoying life, etc. Eariler today when I saw this video for "Telephone" a classical cover by Aston. I instantly liked and wanted to share it.

Hot, Hot Baby.

Cheesy title I know but it's the truth yesterday it was 95 degrees, today wasn't much better 89 degrees, very, very odd for the beginning of April. To add a wacky-ness tomorrow and Friday it will only be in the mid 60's with rain. The last couple of days haven't been event full, yesterday included school, dentist visit, and an 1 1/2 hours of dance.

Tip! isn't a photography tip but a beauty. When your in a pinch or just don't have anything to reduce pimple redness, grab redness relief drops take a tissue or Q-tip and hold it on for a minute or two.

Photos coming in the next few days.

It's April already?

It doesn't seem like that long ago it was December how the last four months have gone by. This week didn't turn out to what was planed as I said in my last post, on Wednesday I was going to brave the masses & see the cherry blossoms well that didn't work out, Tuesday night I brook my tooth from grinding my teeth at night, (how doctors night guard would have come in handy). My physics test results were e-mailed to the 'rents since this week is spring break, WOW I did so much better than I thought an 85 yay!. A few of photos of this week (below).

Cherry Blossoms

How was everyones weekend? mine wasn't too great, just trying to get homework done so I wouldn't have to worry about getting it done before next week, (stress is still in my neck).

This past weekend marked the kickoff to the national Cherry Blossom festival in Washington D.C. just this weekend alone over one million people were expected to walk around the Tidal Basin with the nearly 4,000 Japanese cherry blossom trees, and other things there were to do (and will be until April 11th). Personally I've never been quite a fan of pollen, loads of people, and heavy traffic (thanks to spending many 4th of July's in D.C.), this year I am going to brave the crowds and go see the blossoms. The peak blooming time is this Thursday-Saturday, so I thought, hey, Wednesday seems like it far day to go. Hopefully it will with rain since yesterday and the next sunny day is Wednesday. The more I sit here and type the more I should get that last bit of Physics homework done, ughh. Another update coming in the next couple of days.

Spring is here....do a happy dance

Like the title says, spring is here do a happy dance. After a long snowy winter these pictures and the past weekend (and week) weather wise have been so pretty. Oh! I only started this blog not even a month ago and I am already getting lazy, I want to say hello to anyone who reads after my weekish? long break. The past few weeks have been busy and uninspirational until the last couple of days, the trees are starting to bud and more and, more flowers are blooming (pictures below). Last week I had to run all over town to find these neon (ew) cami's for a dance costume for the annual recital that I am in in June, well, me and my big mouth said "I'll go to Macy's and pick them up for everyone". Too make a long story short I ended up having to go to three Macy's to get all eight neon cami's, mid-week and two of the busiest street's during rush hour. School and dance are slowly starting to take over my life again (when isn't it?) next week and until April 6th is spring break hopefully there will be many postings and photos along with it.

Until next time,

Anna

surprising superfoods, huh.

If your a health-freak or just want to start a more healthy life style, hopefully this can be of some help or maybe you already knew this. If your in your teens or tweenies your probably are not worrying about "superfoods", and what will help anti-aging, etc. I know at eighteen I'm not thinking "what will help me look younger when I'm 30 or 40", but hey, if we're already eating it everyday or a few times a week what a bonus is that? This article from Aol.com caught my eye this morning on superfoods.

First surprising food Maple syrup. The article says: This mineral-rich sweetener provides calcium, magnesium, zinc and potassium. While one serving (one tablespoon) does not provide significant amounts of the nutrients, this low fat topping still offers traces of the minerals, making it a healthy choice.

Second superfood yogurt. Yogurt is not only a quick and easy snack and on-the-go-meal, researchers are finding that milk and yogurt may actually add years to your life. And with it's active live cultures, these cultures are key to many of yogurts health benefits. These good cultures prevent the growth of harmful bacteria that cause bacterial infections and diseases. Healthy levels of good bacteria also promote digestive health and boots immune system.
Third superfood Hummus. The main ingredient in this (Levant Originated) spread are garbanzo beans (there also great in salads and soups), which are low in fat and high in fiber and protein they will also keep you full for hours. The beans in addition (as well as being tasty) contain many minerals, such as zinc, phosphorus and calcium, garbanzo beans also have saponins, phytochemicals which may act as antioxidants. Hummus also contains olive oil which makes for shiny hair and good fat.

These are just three of many other superfoods out there, that are as well good for us and tasty.
Either tomorrow or Tuesday I will have more photos posted from the weeks.
Hope you all had a great weekend.

A taste of spring

Wow, I can't believe it's already the 9th of March, it doesn't seem like that long ago there was 40 inches (101.6 cm) of snow on the ground, today was a lovely 61 degrees with a light breeze. As I was walking by my mother's flower bed earlier today there were crocus in bloom, one thing about spring I am not looking forward too are spring allergies (ugh), but I guess it's (a tad) better than cracked dry winter skin.

A couple of photo's from today. Funny how just in little over a month how much can change, and not just with the weather. Enjoy!

Here is a photo from a little over a month ago.
Another thing, well a couple actually, I can't believe I am going to be eighteen on Thursday, ekk, graduation is coming up soon as well. Three and four years ago it seemed like graduation and eighteen were coming slower then beyond humanly possible. haha.

The Academy Award goes to

As many of you know last night were The Academy Awards, or the Oscars. The Oscars to me says everything Old Hollywood, lights, red carpet, diamonds and of course that golden statue. The one night a year many of us wish we could have an occasion (or attend) were we could have these beautiful gowns, our boyfriends, husbands, or any male on your life's look dashing in a classic tux. But, I, guess for the high school age group prom will have to do, until we get married.

Maggie Gyllenhaalen & Peter Sarsgaard.
Maggie, yet another one of my favorites, looks wonderful wearing a Dries Van Noten.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick.

To all of you Sex and the City lovers in advance you may want to scroll down, now.

What was on SJP's mind when picking this dress? just because it's Chanel doesn't mean it should be worn. It reminds me of a very $$$ potato sack, with flowers on the top to high light the amount of potato's. And the hair, I cannot go on about the hair.

Kristen Stewart.

I have to say it, Kristen Stewart looks good, a huge step up from skinny jeans and band tee's. Now Kristen, would a smile to go along with your Monique Lhuillier dress have hurt? other wise you look nice.

Anna Kendrick. Anna Kendrick, looks simply romantic in a pale pink Elie Saab gown. Two thumbs up, Anna.

Miley Cyrus.
Miley, wow, she looks very pretty. Normally I am not a fan of Miley Cyrus's choice of dress, but really I eat past words said, great choice Miley.

Best actress, Sandra Bullock.

Sandra Bullock, looks wonderfully beautiful.
Yet at the same time I am in a love hate with the dress. Yes, it is the Oscars, but she reminds me of a female Oscar award. Someone convince me 100% of the dress.
Rachael McAdam's and Jack Gyllenhaal.

Rachael's dress is one of, if not, my favorite dress from the awards. Her dress reminds me of a painting dipped into water and left to dry, then wow! what a stunning gown. Very soft and romantic, lovely. Jack Gyllenhaal as most of the men looks very nice in his tux.

Ben Stiller, as a "Pandora" wannabe from Avatar.

One of my favorite presenters of the night was, Ben Stiller, also along with that crazy long tail and freaky long braid, and quote "This all seemed better in rehearsal". -Ben Stiller.
Who are some of your favorite dressed and of course worse dressed at the awards last night? leave comment below.

-Anna.
